Boston, MA December 7, 2004 -- Designs by Wink, an online boutique specializing in unique, custom-made specialty items such as baby gifts and beaded jewelry, was founded in 2004 by by Susan McLean and Jennifer Donovan. The two women have known each other for seven years, and decided to launch a joint venture using their respective creative talents.

Susan has always been creative. Adding a bow to this or a slab of paint to that, she can turn what some call trash into an amazing focal piece. Jennifer on the other hand, never knew a piece of tulle from a piece of rick-rack, but always had a passion for starting a side business that could be a creative outlet from the daily grind.

It was on a casual trip to a Boston gift shop in June 2004 that launched Designs by Wink. Eyeing some cute baby burping clothes, they knew right away that they could make them cuter! Using fun fabrics give style to baby boys and girls, and the mommies who need to throw the cloth over their shoulder appreciate their fashionable look. Once the Burpies were done, matching warm and fuzzy blankets, Blankeez, were added. Some of their favorite patterns are Leap Frog, Glamour Girl, A Day at the Zoo, Alphabet Soup, and Life is a Bowl of Cherries.

Retail Therapy breaks left them feeling that most retail jewelry was either too plain, too mass-produced or too expensive, so they decided to make it themselves. With their Twinkle Jewlery line, their vision is to create a line of jewelry that is affordable and adorable for the average person who wants some flair. Their collections use a mix of semi-precious stones, Czech, Austrian and Swarovski crystals, and glass and vintage jewels.
